Block Masonry

Versatile, Durable, Appealing

Cement block construction is a structural method that can provide solid, long lifespan results. Two Brothers Masonry uses well-tested, precision techniques that, over the years, have successfully completed block wall projects time and time again.

Some benefits of block construction include natural resistance to heat and fire, holding up well under floods and inclement weather, and it can create a strong barrier against harsh conditions and winds.

More About Concrete Blocks

Concrete blocks can have a solid center, for a stronger, more stable makeup, or a hollow center, which allows for faster, more nimble building methods. Both types are durable and more energy efficient than traditional brick materials. They are made of a machine-processed mixture of materials including cement, aggregate, and water, that is much easier on the environment than alternate masonry materials.

As a side note, all cement block designs are not the same and there are several types manufactured for specific purposes. Included are Jamb, Partition, Pillars, Bullnose, Corner, Stretcher, and Frogged that all aid in the versatile construction process.

A Few Extras

Block walls that are built to support ceilings, roofs, and other structural loads are an integral part of the overall project integrity. The functionality of such walls cannot be considered separately when design or implemented.

Often built as partitions, or decorative barriers, non-load bearing walls are considered part of the whole aesthetically, but separately when dealing with supporting factors. Once installed, a non-load bearing wall could be removed without affecting the structural integrity of the building.

If you want to dress up a cement block wall or structure, a variety of plaster finishes can be applied to walls to create smooth, refined visuals.
